Yesterday rather rocked. We (as in me and my parents) headed for the north, where we located a rather nice lamp, shaped like a green dragon on a crystal mountain holding a large green sphere (under this sphere is the light source, so when the thing is turned on, the light's all green and lovely... I took pictures a few days ago). Then we headed even further northward into some other city, and I got myself a bunch of stuff. Namely, a bunch of books ("Up in a Heaveal" by Piers Anthony and "Good Omens" by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman), a CD ("Voyageur", the fifth Enigma CD which was only recently released) and one HELL of a nice jacket. I should have pictures of that soon.

Also, I'm probably getting myself a paid webhost and a domain soon at long last. ^_^

In short, it's been a great few days lately.

As I mentioned an update ago, I've bought the 5th Enigma CD, Voyageur. It was quite Interesting, though definitely not a classic Enigma. It was a touch more electronic than the four before it, and although it combined some classic Enigma elements (eg the tracks combining into each other, certain instrumentats, the classic Enigma intro - or a segment from it - and Sandra Cretu doing the female vocals), It was rather... different.

Although that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. One of the things about Enigma is that its style changes with every CD. "MCMXC a.D.", The first one, was rather based around Gregorian chants. "The CROSS of Changes", the second one (and my personal favorite), was rather rock-ballad based. "Le Roi Et Mort, VIVE Le Roi!", the third one, was utterly and completely wierd, and "The Screen Behind The Mirror", the fourth one, was apparantly a not-overly-successful attempt combine all three. Voyageur seems to be based on a combination of native-ish music and electronic instruments - mainly the drums (which I could do very well without... Not too fond of electronic drums here) and certain flange effects applied to certain bits (Michael Cretu's voice in 'Incognito', for instance). In some of these tracks it was hard to understand the vocals, but overall, pretty good. Could have been better, I haven't liked it as much as I did #2, but it was OK. ^_^

The truly annoying thing about it was the fact it had its own built-in player, which was based on Windows Media Player technology, and had a tendency to HANG. LIKE. HELL between some tracks. Not to mention it ate system resources like a flock of locusts. In an attempt to fight copyright theft, it seems that these idiots have forgotten that this IS Enigma we're talking about here, not to mention the system hanging is truly an annoying thing. But oh well.
