Yet Another Crazy Week. ^_^;
Apr. 30th, 2004 08:30 pmSo, after a nice weekend, I was back at the base. We didn't do much on the first three days - as Monday was a Remembrance Day and Tuesday was the Isra Hellish Independence Day (Whoop-Dee-Flickin'-Doo), although we did do quite a bit of stuff on Wednesday - Both preparations for Thursday (which was quite a busy day, but I'll get back to that soon) and our first hand-to-hand combat lesson.
Well, actually, more like M-16-to-face combat lesson. We've covered a bunch of weapon blows designed to incapacitate our enemy in case we end up in the unlikely situation of having to resort to defending against an enemy that is in too close a range to lock and load, or if there isn't a clear sight of him due to innocents around. It's really a series of six consecutive blows, and although we haven't put them all together into one direct attack but practiced their stages alone, I'm only assuming that we'll cover that soon.
Oh, speaking of shooting, we actually fired our weapons on Thursday. For most of that day, we were in the base's shooting range, practicing the whole thing, with earplugs on. (Having earplugs in my ears makes me feel like my head is under water for some reason). I did pretty much okay, for a first time shooter. I still dislike rifles, though, and the M-16 is flicking heavy after a while of holding it with both hands. But oh well. Rifles will be rifles.
(How I wish I could have a nice lightblade instead. Alas, alas for reality.)
Thankfully, it's highly unlikely we're going to be doing ANY shooting after basic training. I rather hate the M-16. X_x
I also became quite the graphic artist by now - I draw designs on people's weapon straps and the occasional bag every once in a while (people actually ask me to! xD). It's usually rune-artwork style, but in condensed 'strips' rather than declared forms. I find it to be fun (It's most of the drawing I do nowadays - although today I'm planning to draw something major) - although I'm beginning to get the feeling that these two weeks I still have left are going to have a bit of my free time spent on putting designs on more weapon straps... Maybe I need to start a business or something. o_o xD
In short, weeks and weeks of madness may be, but I'm actually rather content. I do miss people, though (and especially a certain Katie ^^;). And I wish the Tavern kicked itself back into action, because it refuses to load for me.
Oh, and I watched Finding Nemo again today. Our new DivX reading DVD is so fun. ^_^

"Except for them damn dolphins."
"Ugh! Dolphins! They think they're so cute! Oh, look at me, I'ma flippy little dolphin, let me flip for you!"

And now I've got to get something to eat and get to draw some things before I go completely mad. ^_^
