In other words, it got fucked. :P

There was a power surge yesterday that caught Photoshop RIGHT in the middle of a file save, effectively screwing the file over. But nothing worse than that happened so far, so I figured what the hell ever.

So here I go looking through Google Video, which has never given me problems until then, trying to watch something. It didn't really load, so I shut it down, fired FireFox up, watched the thing from there, then when I fired IE up again... BOOM.

The menu bar vanished, leaving me with a nonchalant strip of gray, and invisible yet accessible menus. the links and favorites vanished (even though the 'favorites' sidebar can still be accessed, the links are greyed and have a red "no entry" sign on the mouse pointer by the link finger when you hover over them - still accessible, though.

The link finger cursor now displays a black square instead of what it's supposed to display, my Media Players don't work - well, they load (except for Sound Recorder) but they freeze up the moment you ask them to, you know, play something. Also, things occasionally mysteriously stop working. AND Norton Antivirus can't update. :P Thankfully my definition file IS up to date.

So I try going into safe mode, doing a virus scan, doing a spyware scan, NOTHING. The computer is as clean as a whistle, and STILL something's fucked up. I assume a windows system file of some sort or another went missing in action, or something.

Grah. ;_;
