Welllllllllllllllllll... Haven't posted in a while. x_X

So here's a short bit of what happened.

I am now an official member of the Isra Hellish Air Force's Technical Wing. Last week, May 16, me and another group of people were moved to the Technical Wing's "school" base at the north of Isra Hell. We spent a period of four and a half (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday) days there, where - except for finding out about the courses that are open for us to study in (before we actually get posted to a certain duty, we must know what we'll be working with, ne? ^^) - we did mostly nothing. (Except for the occasional cleaning up. We cleaned up an F-15 hangar the other day... Dude. Those things are effing huge. And they smell like flying cows. X_X)

I *have* been home from Thursday evening to Saturday, but I haven't bothered posting. Too much on my head.

So anyway, we got back to the base on sunday, and rated our priorities regarding which of the courses we CAN take we actually WANTED to. That's about all we did on this day. And today we came home. For the rest of the week. We'll only be coming back by Sunday, and then we would be on our courses already.

On other news, I bought a whole bunch of books. Two of which by Neil Gaiman ('Smoke and Mirrors' and 'American Gods'), and three by Robin Hobb (The Farseer Trilogy). And I've started reading American Gods.

Well, that's one flicked-up book and no mistake. x_X I haven't finished it yet, but so far, it's seeming kind of like a cross between a Road Trip and a Drug Trip. xD Ah well, that's Neil Gaiman for ya. ^^;

Another thing I did was watched Shrek 2. It wasn't bad - though it was sure as hell no Shrek 1. The little refrences to anything and everything rocked, though... And the Puss in Boots was one of the best characters I have EVER seen. I mean... Le Zorro Kittay! xD ^^;

Well, that was about everything worth mentioning. ^^;

Yup yup, Basic training is over, and after two weeks straight, DAMN it's good to be home. ^_^

The first week (Third, actually, since the basic training started) was MURDER. The first few days were exceedingly intensive. Though we did very little on Sunday, Monday was another 'Let's shoot things!' day. And we managed to cram 9 different types of shooting things - something which is usually done in two days - into one intensive day. We didn't get that much rest. The next day was basically a day dedicated for maneuvers in open ground - which was done in the dunes around the base. Running, Crawling, leaping from one cover to another, ya know the routine. It was fun.

A few hours later we went on a short 3 Kilometre journey to the beach and back (yup, the base I was in WAS that close to the sea). Normally, 3 Kms are nothing for me - even if you do have to run once in a while. But after the day before and the whole field thing, my legs were REALLY done for, and I actually fell behind a bit. It wasn't fun. Oh no. x_X

And I got one mean cramp in my leg that night. Ow. x_x

The next few days were used mainly on various lessons, a few tests, sentry duty in some of the base's watch posts (twice!) and the occasional construction and deconstruction of tents. It seemed like they were out of what to do with us. xD

The last week seemed to move exceptionally slowly, because we really did nothing of consequence, except for the final test - a test of physical fitness - on this Thursday. It wasn't that bad for me, really. The only problem I had was with the 2 km run. We were supposed to run 1 km from the base to one of the target ranges, and then turn around and run the way back. I walked (quickly, but walked) the first KM, and did the way back in a combination of sprints and walks (because I can't run for too long - I don't get enough oxygen. Bloody asthma. xD), But I did manage to fulfill the requirement of time it should take one to do the whole blasted thing.

And today I got home (eventually. The busses took some time to arrive and leave. It was a big mess.) And damn, being home after two weeks is goooooooooooood.

But overall, this whole basic training schtick was fun. It was an interesting break in routine and I got to meet some new people that I'm (probably) going to stay in touch with.

And only dog knows what will happen this Sunday, when we have to get back to the base, so they could send us off to our next destination in the great insanity that is the Isra-hellish Defense Force. xD

Oh. And also, today is May 14th, meaning that I officially finished two months of my three years of obligatory military service (I was recruited at March 14th). Two months down... Two years and ten months to go!

You know, that sounds like an incredibly long time, but when you're actually in this, time seems to zoom right past you...

Right. I'm off to eat Lunch/Dinner. XD

So, after a nice weekend, I was back at the base. We didn't do much on the first three days - as Monday was a Remembrance Day and Tuesday was the Isra Hellish Independence Day (Whoop-Dee-Flickin'-Doo), although we did do quite a bit of stuff on Wednesday - Both preparations for Thursday (which was quite a busy day, but I'll get back to that soon) and our first hand-to-hand combat lesson.

Well, actually, more like M-16-to-face combat lesson. We've covered a bunch of weapon blows designed to incapacitate our enemy in case we end up in the unlikely situation of having to resort to defending against an enemy that is in too close a range to lock and load, or if there isn't a clear sight of him due to innocents around. It's really a series of six consecutive blows, and although we haven't put them all together into one direct attack but practiced their stages alone, I'm only assuming that we'll cover that soon.

Oh, speaking of shooting, we actually fired our weapons on Thursday. For most of that day, we were in the base's shooting range, practicing the whole thing, with earplugs on. (Having earplugs in my ears makes me feel like my head is under water for some reason). I did pretty much okay, for a first time shooter. I still dislike rifles, though, and the M-16 is flicking heavy after a while of holding it with both hands. But oh well. Rifles will be rifles.

(How I wish I could have a nice lightblade instead. Alas, alas for reality.)

Thankfully, it's highly unlikely we're going to be doing ANY shooting after basic training. I rather hate the M-16. X_x

I also became quite the graphic artist by now - I draw designs on people's weapon straps and the occasional bag every once in a while (people actually ask me to! xD). It's usually rune-artwork style, but in condensed 'strips' rather than declared forms. I find it to be fun (It's most of the drawing I do nowadays - although today I'm planning to draw something major) - although I'm beginning to get the feeling that these two weeks I still have left are going to have a bit of my free time spent on putting designs on more weapon straps... Maybe I need to start a business or something. o_o xD

In short, weeks and weeks of madness may be, but I'm actually rather content. I do miss people, though (and especially a certain Katie ^^;). And I wish the Tavern kicked itself back into action, because it refuses to load for me.

Oh, and I watched Finding Nemo again today. Our new DivX reading DVD is so fun. ^_^

"Fish are FRIENDS, not FOOD!"
"Except for them damn dolphins."
"Ugh! Dolphins! They think they're so cute! Oh, look at me, I'ma flippy little dolphin, let me flip for you!"

XD

And now I've got to get something to eat and get to draw some things before I go completely mad. ^_^

Sorry for not updating for this long, but I haven't had much to say. ^^;

Well, starting Monday, April 19th, I have been officially shipped to basic training. And I'm having one hell of a time. ^^

We get quite a lot of free time (not quite enough for me to draw a lot or read too much, but still quite a bit), to be honest, and time moves more rapidly than I thought. Even the irregular sleep hours aren't that bad. Sleep is gooooood. xD

There are really only two things that are majorly annoying. The first thing is that most everything is timed, and the second... well, I'll get to that in a bit.

So what do we do? Most of this week had hours spent on introductions to various members of the staff. We get to do a bit of running occasionally (only that I don't really have to, as I'm mildly asthmatic, and running drains my air supply like dog-knows-what - so I have a medical clearance not to do any running - I still run occasionally anyway, but It's good to know I have the clearance. Could come in handy. ^^). Other parts of our time are spent on studying - safety precautions regarding some of the more dangerous things we carry around, all sorts of moral values which soldiers should be having, and of course, how to do various things with our equipment. ^_^;

Which brings me to the second-most - or perhaps the most - annoying thing about the army. One has to lug around a weapon - the basic-most weapon of a soldier in the Israeli Army, which every soldier much know how to use. Which is currently the M16 rifle.

Yes, The Stel with a Rifle. Who woulda thought? I normally dislike rifles quite a bit, and the M16 (M16-A1 to be specific) is no exception. This particular piece of metal is a medium-large weapon which weighs about 3 Kilograms and is rather annoying if you ask me. It's not as much as the weight as the length and mass of the thing, and the fact that holding it correctly rather hurts. And we haven't even gotten to the actual firing yet.

At this point, I'd officially like to point out that If the inventor of the M-16, One Eugene Stoner (I wonder if the name reflects the individual?), Has not been dead for quite a while by now, I would have killed him myself. *clawslashsnarlbitehiss*

With the exception of walking around with a 3 kg attachment to my physique (Right now, the rifle is at the base - we've turned it in before we were sent back home for the weekend, as we haven't fired it yet. Thank dog. The last thing that I would have wanted is to have lugged around that extra weight - even for the short while before I could get home), everything's going fine. But still... Nothing quite like being at home.

The base I'm in is rather good, too. It's rather new, for one, and its location - rather close to the sea - provides rather nice weather at this time of year - the sun is shining quite a bit, but it's not always too hot - especially since there is some REALLY nice wind going on there. Nights are rather coldish, but coldish is good. ^_^;

Plus, there's a LOT of open sky, and it's quite beautiful. The sky, that is. Especially at sunsets, and the occasional sunrise (when we do get to see them, and sometimes we do). The sunsets there are nothing short of amazing. The sun is like huge and orange/red, and the sky goes all gold, and the clouds are bluish-purple...

The kind of sunset you can only see from somewhere that is close to the sea.

So, anyway. Through the course of this basic training (which would last, apparantly, a month, and would end either in May 16th, or May 13th). I'm home on this weekend (April 23-24th), and next one (April 30th-May 1st), but not in the one after (May 9th-10th) - which is the one saturday we have to stay at the base (well, all rookies here have at least one of those. ^^;) After that, I'm not sure. I'll probably be home at the saturday after (May 16-17th) - but I don'

And after that, again, who knows? ^^;

Whew. Long entry.

I need to draw something. ^_^; Anything. I haven't drawn in so looooooong... X_X

(Crashes in through the ceiling in uniform, dusts himself off, then reverts to his ordinary character outfit.)

Ahem. Wellllllll, things have turned out much better than I have anticipated.

Thing is this. Recruitment here is apparantly done in masses on certain months. As me and the other people that got recruited on the same day as me were basically the first 'wave' of new victims for this month, we were assigned, for about until April 18th or 19th, to the base where they first recieve the new waves of new victims of the army. So, for a while, we get to help the staff handle the great masses of people.

This means that the great basic-training-thing which is supposed to last three weeks has been delayed, and that it will take place after this month is over... But this month counts as part of the service, so who gives. ^^

So we had an extra-shortened four-and-a-half-day (lasting from Sunday to right about the middle of Thursday) crash-course-basic-training, complete with all the silly pose-ness it involves, And for the time period we're assigned to where we're currently assigned, I'm most likely to be at home every day. So basically, right now, it's like I only go to work for a few hours and come back. No big deal.

So, I'm not dead yet. And even after this time period is over and I'm shipped off to basic training, I'll always (almost) have weekends to be online. So it really isn't THAT bad as I thought it was.

In other words, at least for one month more, The Stel is Still Here, And he's taking no prisoners.

HOO HAH! ^_^

To say farewell for the time being. Starting today, my online time is going to be drastically reduced.

I know I've promised a grandiose farewell post, but... I don't really know what to say, in truth. It seems like science fiction, almost. Only it's worse. It's reality. But then again, considering the way I've been living for so many months, I guess that reality seems like science fiction to me.

Kinda sad if you think about it. But if you think about it again from my point of view, who on Teh Multiverse giveth a daiyamn anyway?

... I'm going to miss you all... I'll be sure to check in every once in a while. ^^

'Night, and Dog bless ya all. ^^

Or if you prefer, "Dawn of the third day. (Boom boom, tweet tweet)." :P

Time is moving rapidly, yes, it is. This week's speeding by like a deranged race car with a jet engine on steroids. And I'm already attempting to mentally prepare myself to Sunday, March 14th. After which, only dog knows how much time will I have for the Internet.

Why? I hear you ask... Well, Actually, I don't. But I'm telling you anyway. Y'see, there's a rather annoying law in this country of mine (Blah. Isra hell.) Which dictates that we must serve in the army for a while. Not necessarily doing the actual fighting (which I'm not going to, thank dog. X_X), but there's a bajillion possible things the army can do with us poor bastards. And I have no idea what they'd personally do with me. Oh well. I'd personally skip the whole ordeal if I could, but I hardly have a choice on the matter. -_-

Tomorrow, I'm getting myself a haircut... It's going to be wierd having short hair again, after such a long time... But again, I hardly have a choice on the matter. Might as well be done with it.

(sighs) Stupid country. X_X

~*~

From Thursday to Saturday, I'm going to be away from the 'net. I'm likely to be back online through most of Saturday... Final arrangements online before I have to completely vanish on Sunday. Expect a grandiose farewell post on Saturday. I'll try to provide a fitting one. xD

~*~

On other news, I got a new pair of glasses. Rather similar to last pair, only darker and more... angled, for lack of better definition... And a pair of sunglasses, too, which look REALLY good. I've also been recieving a lot of comments on DeviantART from people that have never commented on my gallery before... Great timing, people. Just as I'm about to spontaneously combust. But I shouldn't be complaining. ^^;

Well, that's all I have to report today. Until next post. ;P
