Okay. Sooooo, I started playing Sengoku Basara.
Shortly after being absolutely RAPED by the FIRST BOSS (Itsuki/Puff), I realized that MAYBE I should be playing this on easy.
The first few stages were... fun. Definitely. Date Masamune/Azure Dragon sure as HELL packs a punch, and his smug little remarks are pure frelling win. The problems start once the more 'specialized' stages come to play. Like the stage where Tadakatsu Honda/Iron Ox chases you around while you SOMEHOW attempt to breach your way to Tokugawa Ieyasu/Irdene. Or the frelling Red Minotaur Cavalary (Is there an infinite supply of these horseback-riding-motherfuckers?!).
After being raped by these stages multiple times I decided that this PARTAY should wait until I DON'T feel like dropping a few tactical nuclear warheads on enemy territory. XD
On a side note. I like killing things. Who would've thought.
(On another side note I also replayed and finished Phantasy Star II again. I seriously love Amy. Anna is farking awesome too.)

Date: 2009-08-20 12:04 pm (UTC)There is a road round by the Iron Ox, just can't find it in time. I managed to get his energy down to about 25% once with Shingen Takeda but it didn't last. X3 Think the trick is to level up a bit in Free Mode - OR, save your game and exit; go back to the map and hope that someone else wins that territory. Happened to me with Yukimura, got Oda Nobunaga on stage three - saved the game - exited - went back the next day and got Reaper/Mitsuhide. Was -very- relieved. XD
Horseback wise, there are two tricks. 1 - is to jump attack (X and [ ]) so you fly safely over the horses then turn quickly and attack them from the rear (oo-er). The other is to charge in all guns blazing (so to speak) and kill them before they get the chance to charge at you. Took me a while to figure it out but yeah, it does work - believe me. X3
Only other tips I can think of refers to the whole cast in battle. (especially affective against bosses). Start an attack with /\, hit afew times then move swiftly to [ ]. You'll notice yellow targets over their heads that wont leave until they're knocked out or dazed. Best way to get a chain going. Honestly, the specials that you use with R1 [ ] or R1 /\ aren't worth the trouble in a boss fight because 9 times out of 10 they don't land and you get pummelled.
*thinks* .. I think that's all I have to offer on hints and tips this morning. Hope they're useful to you. :)

Date: 2009-08-20 01:37 pm (UTC)Still a pain in the desu for people like me who REALLY fail at action-y type games, but hey, practice makes perfect.
... And yeah, the funny thing about this game is how adorably SATISFYING it is to just run into a MASSIVE ARMY and start hacking it to subatomic -fragments- with your swords before they can even touch you XD
