HOLY CRAP.
Aug. 27th, 2010 12:11 amSomething looks incredibly WRONG with Ash's redesign for Black and White. It's probably something about the eyes.
They're... very... wrong.
Also don't get me started about the fact that just as he gets close enough to finally beating a league he gets trounced by a trainer who is so cheap he has TWO legendaries. TWO OF THEM. There's rules against this sort of shit in official pokemon game tournaments IRL, there damn well should be rules against it in the anime, where the legendaries are ACTUALLY ridiculously powerful. >

Date: 2010-08-27 03:41 am (UTC)I dunno. I guess it's more frustration on my part because I personally consider using legendaries to be 'cheap'.
I think it's because they are so powerful to begin with, it kinda feels like a 'shortcut' - Using a PokeMon that is intrinsically overpowered as a doomsday weapon rather than to raise one of your own creatures from the ground up to Murdersauce Levels - and then you can at least feel proud of the bond and connection you've made over however long it took when you overcome adversities together... I'm weird. ^^;
And on the same note, there are a lot of trainers who would sign up for this tournament - working hard to get their eight badges, and suddenly, BAM! A guy with two legendaries rips through the entire damn thing, eliminating them left and right. How fair is that? MOST trainers out there don't have legendary PokeMon (as those are, while not superspecialawesome 'deities', still very rare and powerful species). Makes it kinda feel like cheating, doesn't it? All those people who got there on their own power, repeatedly pwned by some guy who somehow happens to own legendary god damn pokemon. What kind of precedent does that set? Does this mean that in order to defeat a league you'll HAVE to have a legendary PokeMon in case some guy spams TWO of them? @_________@
I think it's cheap bullshit. But then, a lot of stuff in the anime is.
Also, Ash's redesign... I think that the main problem is that the series' entire art style shifted into having those ludicrously bright eyes (witness Gold's redesign in HG/SS and several other redesigns there) that make the characters look like retarded Aipoms. And we're so used to seeing Ash with the original pokemon eye style, the... mutation... is surprising.
