FUCK OFF BLIZZARD.
Oct. 12th, 2008 10:02 am"At BlizzCon 2008, it was announced by Blizzard's VP of Game Design, Rob Pardo, that StarCraft II would ship as a game with two follow up expansions, provisionally entitled Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm and Legacy of the Void respectively for the Terran, Zerg and Protoss factions. Blizzard states that the game and each expansion will feel like a "full" game. No release dates were announced for the trilogy."
Oh how fucking nice. So instead of paying for ONE game we have to pay for THREE now.
Fuck off, Blizzard. just... fuck... off. I've officially lost ANY trace of respect I had for you. Way to make me stop anticipating what could have potentially been a bloody awesome game.
I'm sure some people will still buy it in spite of how retarded the whole idea is. Blizzard's 'Rationale' for this, of course, is that making it THREE games rather than ONE will allow them to make everything MOAR EPIC and shove in moar cinematics and moar missions and moar crapm and that every campaign will feel like a full-blown game on its own right or bullshit like that. Well, you know, sometimes, more is less. I wouldn't mind delays if it meant one whole awesome game, but like fuck am I paying for three games when I should only be paying for one.
And Blizzard can go to hell. Officially.

Date: 2008-10-13 10:44 pm (UTC)What the hell. How is one supposed to familiarize themselves with the COMPLETELY REVAMPED RACE MECHANICS behind the Zerg and the Protoss (because dog knows they play nothing like they used to!) without at least some form of single-player introduction? Oh right, clearly the people at Blizzard forgot that not everyone in their clientele is a Korean who plays their games for a living and/or the mindless masses of MMORPGtards. I mean, forget the fact that some of us aren't professionals at figuring-this-shit-out, and that some of us heaven forbid are in the fandom because we like the universe and the plot and we DON'T fangasm over Battle.net. Of course, Blizzard are all about Multiplayer nowadays (after all, it's where all their soulless minions are at, dawg!) so it was only natural that the single-player people will be shafted. (For the record SC2 has been in development since 2003 and was for the most part playable by the time they announced it. They've been spending all this time balancing the multiplayer dynamics!)
What bugs me is that there isn't even a theoretical release date (They said 2009 at some point. But not WHEN in 2009. And begging your pardon, a year is a VERY large gap. They could easily release the full thing by, like, Q4 2009 or something) and yet they're concerned about 'delaying' the game. Newsflash, bitches, the fans have been waiting for an SC2 for over ten years, they CAN wait a little longer. It won't break their heart regulators.
I think there's a difference between 'sound business practice' and spitting on the gamers for MOAR MONEY. But hey, like you said, they're a business. EA's been doing it for years. And it seems like the game companies out there have gone the way of any other big corporation completely stopped caring about their customers and only care about what's in it for them.
What a fine fucking planet we live in.
